The following is the new feature available with the Xshield version released on the 26th of February, 2021:

Web proxy support for workloads

Xshield agents used for workloads ( Agent type=Microsegmentation) can be now tuned to forward/relay communication through a Web proxy server.

  • For workloads that use agent versions 8.6.0.7 and later, the Settings > Agent Download page lists the CLI commands to install the workload agents with the parameters of the proxy server. The parameters include IP address or domain name of the proxy server, port number used to relay, and the username and password of the proxy server. You must replace the values of the parameters with the details of the proxy server. Username and password are optional parameters.

  • For workloads that are upgraded to agent version 8.6.0.7, you must use an agent utility command to add the proxy server's parameters and their values to the agent configuration. 

Setting up workloads to relay communication through a Web proxy server disables the built-in mTLS authentication between the agents and the Xshield instance. You can optionally enable mTLS authentication from the Settings > Configure > Account settings page.
