Download Xshield agent
The Xshield agent is a small-footprint software you must install on the assets you want to manage from Xshield.
Xshield Agent types
For all OS families except the AIX, Xshield agents are available for both workloads and endpoints (user assets). Xshield agents for workloads ( Agent type = Microsegmentation) pack the micro-segmentation, policy tamper detection, policy enforcement, and other workload-specific features. Agents for user assets (Agent Type = User Access) contain the endpoint-specific features, including the Xaccess Endpoint app to enable secure user access to enterprise applications (Xshield-protected and others).
Xshield agents give you the following privileges over the assets:
-
Complete control over the ports and protocols on the assets by enforcing security policies from Xshield (Microsegmentation and User Access agents)
-
Complete visibility into the assets' communication with the entities in your network and the Internet (Microsegmentation and User Access agents)
-
Secure remote access from endpoint assets to your core network (User Access agents)
Download agents
Download agent packages if you plan to install agents on one asset at a time. Agents can also be installed at scale. On the Xshield UI, agents are listed by the flavors of Xshield-supported OSes - Windows, macOS, Ubuntu, RedHat, CentOS, SUSE, and AIX.
-
Go to Settings > Agent Download.
-
Go to the Downloads tab.
-
Select the agent type ( Microsegementation or User Access) for the relevant OS family.
-
Click Download.
An Os-specific agent installer package is downloaded (for example, MSI for Windows and DEB for Linux).
File names of downloaded agents
If you download agent versions 8.7.x.x and later, it is recommended that you do not change the file name of the downloaded agent package. This is because the file name contains the Product Key, and the installer uses the key during the installation. However, for installations triggered using custom file names of agents, you are prompted to enter the Product Key during the installation.
